Until next week.....

Ok. This more of an explanation note. I have to work tonight and on Friday. On Thursday we move from the Periwinkle Palace to a little home in the town of Cedarville for 2 months. Needless to say this week has been exhausting already! I am not sure about our Internet hook up just yet either so it may be a little while before I can post. While the thought of moving once more and then moving again in 2 months is not the most pleasant, it will be nice not to have to make the trip back and forth to school. It will be nice to have both my Mom and Kris's parents with us during this crazy week. I hope you all have a great Labor Day. If you are wondering about our new address, check out the title of the mailbox pic on an earlier post. Keep us in your prayers as we adjust to another move. Oh, Isabel has a sleep deprived EEG on Tuesday am. Keep her in your prayers too. Thanks, guys!

adding wires

Kris found someone at our church who is doing our electric work. Yesterday most of the rough work was in. I am not sure how exciting these pictures will be to all! :) You can almost picture the range in the kitchen here, can't you? Yesterday we mowed once more but also are attempting to level the field. Right now it is pretty bumpy from having corn rows on it all these years.

new kids at school

Here are some pictures from the kids first day of school. It was record high temps for the area and a lot of schools had half days as there is no air conditioning in the schools. Not Cedar Cliff! Kristianna said that Mr. Wagner's class had sticky desks because it was the last class of her day. Wesley said that they could only play outside for 10 min. and then they had to go inside. Wes's sweet teacher brought in Popsicles for them!

Windows, walls, and swings

As you can see we have windows! We have received a lot of rain recently and these windows
are nice to have now. Kris put up the playground this weekend. The kids love it. Kris and his Dad also have been finishing the interior walls. It is coming! We are starting to pack once more for the move next week. If any of you are in town on the 30th... :)

Have a great day.

Memorable weekend memories

This weekend we have been so blessed to see a lot of familiar faces! Cedarville University welcomed their new students back this weekend which means that we got to see C. J., Alexis, and Mandy and their families. It will be so great for us to be able to see them while they are here!

Susan and my brother Stephen drove up this weekend from the Raleigh area for a wedding. Since Stephen had never been to Ohio or seen Cedarville it was fun to show him around. The three of us ran to Indian Mound in some very nice weather.
It seems that there isn't much more to show of the garage that
hasn't been seen yet. I am hoping to be able to post Kris's weekend project tomorrow! :) Stay tuned. In case you are wondering what the place looks like now and how we are watering all these little trees and such, here are two pictures to give you a visual. Hope your weekend was filled with as many happy memories.

putting on the roof

Our little garage is more than taking shape. It is getting a roof! I hear it is quite a view from way up there. I am sort of partial to this one to the right!
We found another place to rent for two months. Even though Kris and his Dad are working as hard as they can, it is a little unrealistic to expect it to be ready on the 15th of Sept. We will be moving to Cedarville at the end of this month.
Work is going well. School begins in one week for the kids. They are getting excited. Isabel will be attending building school with Dad on the days I have to sleep. I know she will miss her sibs.
I finally got my Ohio drivers licence this week. Now I feel like we have really moved. No more FL residents discounts! :)

Helpers

Whew! We have had a busy end to the week! We had a lot of help this week and have helped to make the work much more pleasant as well as speedy. Kris's parents spent the week here, Catherine and her family came, and Peter Gayer also was here this week. Thanks, everybody!

Trying to keep cool with family and friends

Progress in the heat...that is what these past few days have been about. While the guys are building, the kids and I have been out on the property but also have been trying to keep cool. Here is the garage. They have done so much to it! We also had a pump placed in the well and I was actually able to water my trees from our well! It takes a 90+ degree day to appreciate 54 degree water. It was great.

Yesterday the Bolenders invited the kids to come swim in their pool. They had a blast playing with their friends!

Today Catherine and her girls and my niece Anna came to see us. While Catherine and I were watering the kids were playing a game in the shade of the garage. After we all were too warm we went to splash in the river. Later we went rock climbing and out for ice cream. We are enjoying having them here!
Yes, that really is dirt all over Wesley. He was showing off his new invention (see previous post)!

What can I do with that board?

Our kids have been so flexible with all of the changes that have have been going on this summer. Lately they have discovered a pile of scrap wood and creating their own objects while their Dad and Grandpa are busy with theirs. No nail guns are involved! Wesley's is a dirt runner. It is sort of like a slide but for dirt instead of snow. While the washing machine may not be giving this invention a blue ribbon, it certainly is very creative! Kristianna created this bench from the triangular scraps left over from the stairs being built. It can actually hold an adult but Isabel seems to claim it the most. Isabel also enjoys using the scraps as blocks and builds castles and benches that get knocked over in 5 min.
Here is a building update. Enjoy!

Packing things up

Yesterday was the last day we saw our little birds. They were huge and overfilling the nest. I think they have taken to the skies because we now have an empty nest.

Our well is in. They hit water at 75 feet at 20 gallons a minute. These numbers probably would not have meant much to me before not they are so exciting! This is the huge truck leaving after being parked there for 3 days.
Kris is exhausted and I am sure his Dad is as well. We have to run to Columbus tomorrow an I know he could use a little break from all the physical work in the heat of this week. Hope you all have a great weekend!

working in the heat

Today a lot was accomplished. The well people came and got to about 28 feet. They will be back tomorrow. Kris and his Dad are making the place look like it will eventually become habitable! Smudge approves!
