Fruit of our labors

I was so excited last night to be able to see lights on in our log home! I hope you are able to see both buildings in the dark from where you are.
Isabel and I picked the last of the tomatoes from the garden and canned them. This would have been very sad without the help of a 4-year-old. She decided to do her own canning as well. She even picked her own produce for her "cans"! :) She also reminded me through the hours we spent together picking , washing, and canning that this means Christmas is coming and the snow will be here in a little while. While the end of the season harvesting began by feeling like saying goodbye to a friend, it ended with a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead.
Air conditioning and heat have now been added to our home although right now it has been nice enough to open a window during the day and close them at night. There are many moments during the day that I wish we could somehow clone Kris temporarily! He has so many little details to attend to and we are only able to clean up sawdust, move boards, and wait.
Happy October!
