Door jams, treads, and risers

Pictorial update once again as progress is hard to define in words sometimes. One thing that I didn't get a picture of is the telephone line being connected to the house today. I apparently slept through that!Have a great day.

A good day

This is one of those nights where we are all happily exhausted. We are thankful for the following:
1. The final plumbing inspection PASSED today! :) (and no, Dad, we didn't have to bribe them)
2. 14 quarts of pears canned
3. A sweet "care package" arriving from Wendy in FL
4. Carpet installed in the kids bedrooms
5. Guys from our small group at church who came over tonight and helped move our refrigerator (aka Susan's wardrobe) from the garage to it's spot in the kitchen. We took it up the back steps only to find out at the top that it was just a bit too big so it had to go down steps and then up on the porch. Extra thanks, guys! They also moved boards and helped Kris clear out the basement so it can become a work area now that the rest of the house is in its about finished stage.
We all enjoyed sitting on the floor and boards and eating apple pie and ice cream tonight after a productive day.
One more inspection remains.

plumbing

I think that today is a day that Kris wishes he had hired out the plumbing for the house! It seemed he spent the day fixing little leaks here and there in preparation for the final plumbing inspection. To top it all off we realized tonight that the hot water to the garage apartment wasn't working. After dinner Kris had to spend a few hours working on the pipes in this house! Poor guy. Let's just hope that the plumbing inspector is as happy with Kris's work as Isabel!

"It's a process"

Last week Doug Taylor (our Katadin rep) came to help Kris change out our big front windows. He had not been here since the beginning of June and checked out the progress since then as well. As he looked around he reminded us that the building "is a process". We are getting very close to the end of phase #2 but getting the details finished has kept me from keeping up with the blog. Kris and I have been out working in the house late each night and still trying to keep up with life, work, etc. We are so excited to see it all come together!

A Fall Holiday

We have just returned from a short building sabbatical. Kris and I went to Amish Country and the kids spent a few days with Grandma and Grandpa W. in Athens. We are so anxious to be in our home but it was nice to spend some time admiring other people's woodworking abilities. We had a great time and it seems that the kids did as well! Hopefully the grandparents will have some time to recover! :)

Our final electric inspection passed. Two more left!

Special guests and what was accomplished

This week my Mom and Kris's Dad were here for a few days. Mom helped me shop, clean, and occupy Isabel while I slept. Kris and Dad have been busy putting in the tile. It was good to see both of them again.

Housing updates

This has been a busy weekend for Kris. Not only has he been working with the CC team, he also has been finishing up some big projects. The walls are finished upstairs and now coated. This means that we can move onto tile.

The kitchen is looking like it is getting ready to make a meal! Kristianna is pretty excited about the prospect of having a dishwasher again.
